I'm currently taking new and returning patient virtually.
This option keeps me connected with the Niagara Region and forged new connection throughout Ontario. Virtually, I will be able to assess and reassess your progress for generalized and specific strength, range of motion, flexibility, and muscle tension. As well as using functional scales to guide your goals toward your return to work, daily activities and sports. Pelvic health screening will be part of the intake form and discussed further during the assessment, Questionnaires are used to understand how pain have significantly changed your level of distress, fear/avoidance patterns, injustice, and sensori-motor regulation.
Trauma-informed principles are applied throughout the assessment and treatments to bring you compassionate clinical reasoning.
Treatment plans may include :
-Education on anatomy/physiology of pelvic floor muscles
-Education on presenting symptoms of prolapse, fecal and urinary incontinence, constipation, painful sex, and pelvic pain
-Education on prevention and treatment constipation and complete bowel evacuation
-Education on urge delay techniques and bladder training
-Education on evidence-based relaxed posture/alignment, connection between diaphragm and core/pelvic floor muscles, and neurodynamics of lifting and carrying.
-Pain education focusing on major component of persistent pain documented in the literature
-Education on Perineal massage, C-section scar management and massage, Perineal scar massage
-Sensori-motor rich exercises such as Feldenkrais exercises, Eric Franklin exercises, and Tai chi/Qi gong
-Breathing exercises to connect the diaphragm with the deep core muscles and pelvic floor muscles
-Yoga exercises for down training muscle tension
-Intra-abdominal pressure management techniques for prolapse, diastasis recti, and stress incontinence sign and symptoms.
-Specific pelvic floor muscle stretching, strengthening (keggles), timing and coordination exercises
-Specific sports and/or generalized weight and strength training exercises
-Coaching on using dilators for gradual exposure for return to sexual intercourse
